Mrs. Freeland's Final Newsletter
THANK YOU!
This week is my last week
with your student. Mrs. Rozeveld will return from maternity leave the Monday
following Spring Break. I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with this
wonderful group of students. They are all truly special to me and every one of
them will hold a special place in my heart! Thank you for a wonderful
experience. I have appreciated all of the kindness and support that I have been
shown by all of the parents!
Everyday Mathematics
We are finishing up Unit
8-Fractions. The students will be filling out their study guide tomorrow. Our
test will be Wednesday, March 27. We will be doing our fraction activity
(Skittles Fractions) on Thursday.
Spelling
Due to our shortened week
this week we will not be working on a spelling list. Spelling will resume once
we return from Spring Break.
Tissues
Thank you to all of you that sent tissues in with
your child. We received a handful of boxes. We can still use more though. With
spring allergies and weather changes giving us the sniffles we run out of
tissue quickly! If you haven’t already, please send a box in with your child if
you are able to do so. Thank you!
REMINDER
Our last day of school this week is Thursday.
Friday is Good Friday and it begins our Spring Break. There is no school on
Friday. Enjoy your vacation time!
Writing
We
are finishing up our nonfiction stories based on our personal experiences and
prior knowledge. We have been using nonfiction mentor texts to help us design
our stories with text features that we find in these stories. The children are
so excited about all of the wonderful facts they are learning. They can’t wait
to share this information with others! Ask your child what they have learned so
far. We will be having a publication celebration the week that Mrs. Rozeveld is
back.
The Water Cycle
We are wrapping up our
water cycle unit in Science. The children have been working so very diligently
on this project. They have been awesome investigators and have become experts
on the water cycle basics. The children have been working on creating their Glogsters.
I’m hoping to have them finish this week so that they can share with Mrs.
Rozeveld when she returns. I’m so excited to see what they come up with!
Pajama Day
Thursday wraps up our
Jungle Reading Month. Students may come to school dressed in their P.J.’s. They
may also bring a pillow/blanket to use when we view our video in the afternoon.
Thanks for your support with our reading month activities!
Book Fair
Students should have
brought home a note explaining that the Book Fair was cancelled. If your child
brought money in to spend I have sent it home with them today.
Parent Survey
Every year our school encourages parents to take
its Parent Survey. This year it is provided online instead of by paper. Please
take a moment to visit http://www.mcbain.org and click on the Elementary Parent
Survey. This survey provides important information to our administration and
the state. Thank you for your time!
